The year 2018 brings exciting challenges for me. I left a great group of folks at LeanKit at the end of December and started this year by opening up my own Lean/Agile Consulting and Training company, Lagom Solutions. The name Lagom has a lot of significance for my family and me. My family is a Swedish-American family and lagom is a word that defines a concept that is a quintessential part of being Swedish. Lagom means “not too little, not too much, just enough.”
This concept of lagom blends easily into many things I discuss with clients: how many policies to have, how much work to have in process at one time, etc. Lagom is something that I also embrace as a business in that I want to provide only what people really want and need rather than trying to pad the invoice or statement of work. I co-founded Lagom Solutions with my husband, Daniel Wester, and I’ll be the principal consultant working on many fronts: training, consulting, coaching, and speaking.
Training
Our training offerings will eventually consist of online, self-paced training; online, instructor-led training; and public and private instructor-led workshops. Our training topics include general Lean/Agile concepts, Kanban (of course), Agendashift™, and SAFe (because it introduces so many great Lean concepts). Within that, expect to see many offerings coming out over the next year that should appeal to all types of roles, budgets and locations.
Sign up for Kanban training now to get early bird discounts:
Our 2 hour online training on Jan 30th that’s all about creating great Kanban visualizations (read more)
Our 2-day workshop on March 15-16 in Seattle on Getting Started with Kanban (read more)
Consulting and Coaching
Any team or organization that needs help getting work done and getting rid of unnecessary drama can benefit from our consulting and/or coaching. Consulting helps when we need to assess and figure out a path forward to success. Coaching is applicable for topical needs or general mentoring. Agendashift™, with its framework-agnostic, outcome-oriented approach will likely play a key role in my approach in 2018.
Speaking
In regards to speaking, I’ve been doing this consistently for a couple of years and it will continue to be a key part of how I learn and share my learning with others. If you want me to speak at your meetup, conference or organization (or anything else for that matter), please reach out and I’ll be happy to talk to you.
I can’t wait for this year to unfold and I hope it has great things in store for you as well. If there’s anything I can do to help you achieve those great things, please reach out!
